We had planned a week long trip to my parents house. But, it hasn't turned out that way. Alessandra had increased seizures. Thursday, a little before 7 she started one that didn't stop. She had to ride the ambulance to Davis Hospital. Her fever continued and so did little seizures, Friday night we went back to the doctors. They found that she has strep throat. AHA! we found a culprit, even with a shot of antibiotic, we didn't think she'd do well to travel. It is now Saturday night, she still has a little fever. She has had another set of small seizures, so I guess it was a good idea to postpone our vacationing.
However, the other five kids who have been looking forward to their chance to visit my family, nearly mutinied. I'm sure our neighbors wondered what all the wailing was. Wesley and Emerson talked about trying to walk there without me. I thought about letting them, finally, though, I told them that it was only about 100 miles and I was certain that they could make it,by Sunday night at least. They let it go when I told them that.
My Mom and JamieLynn had planned a huge egg hunt, crafts, and treasure hunts. I knew that and had only bought a few Sunday clothes for the kids, almost no sweets. Since I was utterly unprepared to entertain them, I went out late Friday night and got a few bags of candy and an egg coloring kit. As a hint, don't try shopping for Easter stuff in a grocery store after 10:30 pm on the Friday before Easter. There wasn't a lot to choose from.
We had an impromptu egg hunt in the living room Saturday morning, and enjoyed a very quiet day together. I made a strawberry shortcake and we watched General Conference. My sweet friend Kelli, knowing that we were rather locked up, brought the kids notebooks and crayons. The big kids really liked coloring and writing in their books during conference. It was a huge lifesaver, I should have thought of that when I was shopping, but I didn't.
I am so blessed with good friends :)
